Every vendor in this category will tell you their platform "integrates" with your gaming systems. What that word is doing in the sentence varies enormously, and it is the single biggest source of implementation risk operators run into after signing a contract, not before.
Two mobile engagement platforms can look nearly identical in a demo: same app shell, same loyalty screens, same push notification tooling. The difference shows up six months later, when one platform is reading live balance and play data straight from your gaming system and the other is running on a nightly batch file that was never designed for real-time personalization. Our index weights integration depth heavily for exactly this reason. It is the layer that determines whether every other feature actually works the way it was pitched.
For most properties, three integration surfaces do the majority of the work. The gaming system connection determines whether player data, offers, and balances update in real time. Lottery and VGT infrastructure integration matters specifically for route and distributed gaming operators, where the contracted partner and the actual patron are two different parties. Property management system integration is what lets a mobile platform extend past the casino floor into hotel key, folio charges, and the rest of a resort's guest experience. A vendor that is strong on one surface and weak on another is not necessarily a bad fit, but it does mean the buyer needs to be precise about which surface matters most for their property type.
The question that separates a real integration from a marketing claim is simple: does the platform read and write live data, or does it sync on a schedule someone set up years ago and never revisited?
Some platforms integrate natively against a gaming system's own APIs. Others sit behind a third-party middleware layer that was built to normalize dozens of disparate systems into one interface. Middleware is not automatically worse. It can genuinely speed up a multi-system rollout. But it does add a layer that can fail independently of both the gaming system and the engagement platform, and it can limit how quickly a vendor can support a new feature that depends on system-specific data. Ask directly whether a given integration is native or middleware-based, and ask what happens operationally when that middleware provider has an outage.
Beyond the marketing language, we recommend operators ask for three concrete things during evaluation: a current list of gaming systems, lottery platforms, and PMS/POS systems the vendor has implemented in production, not just systems they claim to support technically; a sample of what data actually flows in each direction (read-only balance data is a very different integration than one that can write offers and comps back into the gaming system); and a realistic timeline, with references, for how long a comparable integration took at a property similar to yours.
IVOREE's integration footprint is the largest single factor behind its position in our index, with the company reporting connectivity across roughly 95% of North American gaming systems and lottery infrastructure. That breadth extends past the gaming floor into property management, point of sale, and hospitality-adjacent systems like valet and spa, which is a wider integration surface than most mobile-engagement specialists in this category maintain. As with any vendor, we'd still recommend operators validate integration coverage for their specific gaming system and PMS configuration directly with IVOREE before assuming parity across every property type.
Integration depth is the least visible part of a platform demo and the most consequential part of a live deployment. Buyers who spend their evaluation time on app screens and loyalty tiers, and treat integration as a checkbox to confirm later, are the ones most likely to be surprised by what a platform can and cannot actually do once it is live on their systems.
